As a history teacher, I am always amazed to hear people express their dislike for studying history. I am alarmed whenever a person says they are not interested in politics. There are several arguments to made in such instances, but my tactic is to usually provide some historical “gift” that shows an alignment between history and politics.  Thanks to http://www.theroot.com, you can see for yourself how New Orleans’ history has long been layered in the politics of our nation.  Every thing is not for everybody, but history and politics are for everyone!  Click on the link below and enjoy the journey:
